The language, proverbs, sayings, and folklore employed by the informants, as well as their perspectives, were recorded. Autistic individuals in the United States are often targeted by mental health practitioners who are trained to cure or alter their behaviors. In their interactions with autistic clients, some mental health practitioners may manifest anti-autistic tendencies. Discrimination towards autism and autistic individuals includes any prejudice that demeans, disregards, or negatively impacts autistic people or their traits. A problematic aspect of anti-autistic bias emerges when a therapist and client, in the context of a therapeutic alliance, are engaged in a collaborative relationship. An effective therapeutic relationship hinges significantly on the presence of a robust therapeutic alliance. In our interview-based research, we examined the experiences of 14 autistic adults with anti-autistic bias in the therapeutic alliance, investigating its association with their sense of self-worth. Results from this research showed that some mental health workers demonstrated hidden biases when interacting with autistic individuals, including assumptions about the nature of autism. Results indicated that some mental health practitioners were not only prejudiced, but also actively harmful to their autistic clients in a deliberate manner. The participants' self-esteem was negatively impacted by the combined effects of both forms of bias. To improve the care autistic clients receive, the recommendations presented in this study target mental health practitioners and their professional development programs. Current research on anti-autistic bias within the mental health sector and the broader well-being of autistic individuals suffers from a notable deficiency that this study aims to rectify.

The focus of our study was the evaluation of oxidative stress and thiol-disulfide balance in term newborns who were treated with phototherapy. In a single-center level 3 neonatal intensive care unit, a single-blind intervention study assessed the impact of phototherapy on the oxidative system in term newborns presenting with hyperbilirubinemia. Neonates exhibiting hyperbilirubinemia underwent total-body phototherapy for 18 hours using a Novos device. Blood samples were acquired from 28 full-term newborns both before and after the phototherapy treatment. Measurements were taken of total and native thiols, total antioxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS), and the oxidative stress index (OSI). A retrospective study of 47 patients with severe COVID-19 infection suspected of COVID-HIS, and 22 patients with sHLH due to other illnesses, was conducted to examine the diagnostic utility and limitations of the HLH 2004 and/or HScore criteria in the context of COVID-HIS. The study also evaluated the utility of the Temple criteria for predicting severity and outcome in patients with COVID-HIS. Clinical examination results, blood profiles, chemical profiles, and death prediction criteria were scrutinized for divergence across the two groups. Among the 47 cases examined, fulfilling 5 of the 8 criteria specified by the 2004 HLH classification occurred in only 64% (3 cases).
