Utilizing a retrospective approach, we examined data from PUO patients at a tertiary care hospital in Sri Lanka to determine the clinical pattern and economic burden of PUO treatment. As part of the statistical analysis, non-parametric tests were selected for use.
A total of one hundred patients, experiencing Persistent Unexplained Fever (PUO), formed the basis of this study. The overwhelming number of individuals in the group were male (n=55; 550%). A statistical analysis revealed that the average age of male patients was 4965 years (SD 1555), and the average age of female patients was 4687 years (SD 1619). Of the total cases evaluated (n=65), 65% received a final diagnosis. On average, patients' hospital stays lasted 1516 days, with a standard deviation of 781 days.
